Stone’s Smoked Porter

Apperance: This is a pretty outstanding looking porter. The body is near pitch black but when seen through the light a clear and dark mahogany is seen. A beautiful thick and dense tan head is on top filling out the glass nicely.
Aroma: At first the aroma came on too strong with a strong presence of dark chocolate but it’s more restrained after a minute and I can pick out the other aromas. The smoke is light and balanced well into the burnt chocolate and roasted malts.
Taste: The smoke is light and the first thing that I taste, but gains a bit more presence by the finish as it combines with roasted coffee and dark/burnt chocolate flavors. The balance is good and no flavor particularly jumps out as dominant.
Overall: My bottle was a little past the best before date so I will re-evaluate this one day, but my overall thoughts on this is that you can’t go wrong buying one for the price Stone offers this for.
