Maine Beer Co.’s Mean Old Tom

Appearance: The body is a light enveloping pitch black with only a thin dark tan head in my snifter and a light coating.
Aroma: The aroma is strong of coffee and cocoa with only a light vanilla sweetness. This is a nice and balanced aroma.
Taste: The dominate flavor throughout it a bitter coffee with light cocoa and vanilla sweetness to balance this to an extent with the cocoa being most prominent in the mid-taste and the vanilla on the finish.
Verdict: This is a very good stout, something you don’t see many breweries making these days actually. I’m not talking about big imperial stouts, I’m talking 6%-7% stouts that you can drink without feeling a buzz. The problem with this though, as with all Maine Beer is that it’s not a great value. The price is a bit high and while this is good and I give it a buy it, I don’t think I will be purchasing it again.
