Maine Beer Co.’s Lunch

Appearance: I prefer an IPA to be a clear amber, this is opaque. Sure it’s superficial, but it takes away from the experience a bit. The head is beautiful though, thick and off-white with great retention.
Aroma: The aroma reminds me of their MO with oranges, pineapple and grapefruit, but as it warms up a bit it reminds me more and more of orange juice.
Taste: Lunch has nice balance between the malts with a mild pine and grapefruit bitterness, but by the end this becomes strong with orange flavors, reminding me of orange juice.
Overall: Lunch is a solid IPA, but the orange flavors and aromas become a bit too much and distract from the overall experience. The price is another con here, for $2 more I can buy a 6 pack of another equal quality IPA. I’ll pass from now on.
